GALERÍAS VA SELECT THREE ARTIST FROM THE CreArt CITIES FOR THE INTERNATIONAL AiR
We are pleased to announce the three artists by the Curators Committe in Galerías VA, that will participate in the International Residence between 18 May and 21 June:
- Vasylyna Buryanyk from Ukraine
- Veronica Bape from Rouen, France
- Andrea Bojkovska from Skopje, North Macedonia
Vasylyna Buryanyk (b. 1985) is a Ukrainian artist working in visual and textile art. In 2004, she graduated from the Adalbert Erdeli College of Arts (Uzhhorod) with a degree in graphic design, and in 2010 from the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Department of Art Textiles. Her work has been presented in international exhibitions, residencies, and biennials across Europe. She is a recipient of the Gaude Polonia scholarship from the Minister of Culture of Poland and has been nominated for several awards, including the International Triennial of Tapestry (Lodz, 2022, 2025) and the Second National Biennial of Young Art (Kharkiv, 2019). She also participated in the 10th Triennial of Young Art (Orońsko, 2023).
Verónica Bapé (Mexico City, 1981) is a visual artist and graduate of the National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking "La Esmeralda." Her artistic practice revolves around a poetics of the spectral, exploring through painting and drawing the presence of the invisible and the traces of memory that linger within objects and spaces.
Her career has been recognized with the Acquisition Prize at the Biennial of the Borders (2015) and Honorable Mentions in prestigious national competitions such as the X Alfredo Zalce National Painting Biennial (2016) and the XII Joaquín Clausell Painting Biennial (2017). Her work was also selected for the XVIII Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial (2018), consolidating an artistic vision that moves between figuration and material abstraction.
At an institutional level, her work has been showcased in prestigious venues such as the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), the Cabañas Museum, the National Museum of Printmaking (MUNAE), and the Carrillo Gil Art Museum. Her international presence includes residencies at the Nordic Kunstnarsenter Dalsåsen (Norway), the Bilbaoarte Foundation (Spain), and recently in Rouen, France, where she developed a project centered on the historical figure of Joan of Arc, supported by the Bourse Impulsion grant.
Andrea Bojkovska (b. 1992) is an illustrator and visual artist whose work explores themes of mental health, identity, and everyday emotional experiences. With a background in architecture, she creates compositions that balance structure and spontaneity through expressive characters and symbolic scenes. Her work has been commissioned by publications such as Wired, Bloomberg Businessweek, BuzzFeed News, and Dwell. Alongside her commercial practice, she develops personal projects focused on psychological and social narratives, including her ongoing exploration of migration and belonging.
