Mia Matijević is a visual artist born in September 1995 in Požega. After School of Applied
Arts and Design in Zagreb, she enrolled in The Academy of Fine Arts (Zagreb) in 2014
where she is currently a second-year graduate student under the mentorship of professor
Tomislav Buntak.
She exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Croatia: in Zagreb in Croatian Association
of Artists (HDLU), Lauba, Šira gallery, Josip Račić gallery, Concert hall Vatroslav
Lisinski, Panacea gallery, Technical Museum Nikola Tesla, Laval Nugent gallery, in Split in
Old City Hall, in Zaprešić in Vršilnica, Novi dvori, Razvid gallery, in Požega in City museum,
Ciraki gallery etc. During June 2019 she participated in a residency program in
Leipzig (Germany) on project De/construction of the painting. She became a member of
Croatian Association of Artists (HDLU) in June 2019.
She received a special Rector Award for academic years 2015/2016, 2016/2017 and
2017/2018, Rector Award for team scientific and artistic work (UMMA – Art therapy
project) 2017/2018. She received recognition from The Academy of Fine Arts for academic
years 2015/2016 and 2016/2017.
During the last few years, she has been actively organizing art workshops and therapeutic
programs.
