Oliver Musovik
Born in Skopje, North Macedonia (1971). Lives and works in Skopje.
Oliver Musovik has graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje in 1997, MFA in 2004.He had 20 solo exhibitions in North Macedonia, Switzerland, Slovenia, Serbia, Australia, Montenegro and Austria. Throughout his career, he had participated at numerous international exhibitions, among others “REALIZE! RESIST! REACT! Performance and Politics in the 1990s in the Post-Yugoslav Context”, Ljubljana, 2021; “Solidarity - Now More Than Ever”, Weimar, 2019; “AFTERMATH –
Changing Cultural Landscape, Tendencies of engaged post-Yugoslavian contemporary photography”, Ljubljana and touring in 2012-14; “HISTORY, MEMORY, IDENTITY: Contemporary Photography from Eastern Europe”, Modena, 2009; 3rd Bucharest Biennale, 2008; 1st Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art, 2007; “In The Gorges of the Balkans”, Kassel, 2003; Manifesta 4, Frankfurt, 2002; 6th Istanbul Biennale in 1999.
Musovik has participated at eleven residency programs including Singapore Art Museum, 2024; AIR NOE, Krems, Austria, 2023; ACC Gallery Weimar, Germany, 2018; Embassy of Foreign Artists, Geneva, Switzerland, 2016; Seoul Art Space Geumcheon, Korea, 2014; Storefront for Art and Architecture, New York, USA, 2006. A number of public collections like the Museum of Contemporary Art, Skopje; Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (+MSUM), Ljubljana; National Museum of Montenegro, Cetinje; State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki; Fondazione Fotografia, Modena, hold his artworks. His works have been published in prestigeous art publications, including “Autobiography” (Thames and Hudson, 2004), “Vitamin Ph – New Perspectives in Photography”, (Phaidon, 2006), “Photo Art, Photography in the 21st. Century”, (Dumont 2007 / Aperture, 2008).
In the period 2000-2013 worked for the Swiss Cultural Programme in the Western Balkans, first in Skopje, than in Sarajevo as Deputy Regional Director. He is co-founder and co-curator of the Press to Exit Gallery in Skopje in the period 2002-04. He is a member of the European Cultural Parliament since 2003. In 2017-18 worked as an external collaborator of the Ministry of Culture of North Macedonia on various projects. He has worked with the independent cultural organization Faculty of
Things that can’t be Learned on a project for cultural public spaces, and he is a trainer for art activism for the Center for Balkan Cooperation LOJA. In the period 2019-22, he worked on the preparation of the candidacy of the City of Skopje for the European Capital of Culture 2028 (now successful). Continuously, since 2010 he is self-employed freelance artist.

 

Vitalii Shupliak

(*1993, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian artist, based in Berlin. He mainly works with video installation, painting and performance. Vitalii Shupliak explores the potential of free expression for the creation of new values, employing methods that permeate reality and virtuality, with a focus on migration, identity, and border issues.
