At the end of September, two artists will arrive in Liepāja – Carlos Munnoz from Spain and Iryna Loskot from Ukraine . The international artist residency, organized by Liepāja 2027, will bring the two guest artists together with local artists in Liepāja, fostering collaboration to create new artworks that will be showcased during the festival exhibition in November. Carlos Munnoz will share his experience in working with artificial intelligence in festival workshops. Iryna Loskot will perform a piece about belonging and ecology, which will take place during the Art and Science Afternoon on Saturday, September 28th, at the Tipography Creative Quarter.
The UPDATE festival is organized by the Liepāja Media Artists' Association ASTE and the RTU Liepāja Academy's Art Research Laboratory (MPLab).
Performance bout belonging and ecology by Iryna Loskot
On Saturday, September 28, as part of the media art and technology festival "Update," a performance by Ukrainian artist Iryna Loskot took place in the Printing House Creative Quarter, drawing great interest and active participation from attendees. During the performance, participants not only observed the artistic process but were also engaged in conversations and reflections on various crises and concerns for our planet. The participatory project invited participants to become co-creators in the cycle of care by engaging humans and non-humans in interaction. Based on the ideas of Donna Haraway and activist practices, we spent time in a picnic format with friendly conversations about mutual kindness between us and non-humans. It was an inspiring event that encouraged thoughts on responsibility and mutual interaction.
Mastering AI Creativity with Carlos Munnoz – The Journey Continues!

This intensive workshop is pushing participants to go beyond basic AI prompts and dive into powerful creative techniques.
Over the past few days, participants have been exploring image-to-image, light transfer, and style transfer methods, working with online tools like Krea and Runway to create visually stunning results. From AI-driven visuals to unique artistic expressions, this masterclass is all about unlocking the potential of AI for creativity.
On the final day of the workshop, everyone will collaborate on an experimental AI video project, applying everything they've learned in a dynamic and practical way.
