OPENINGS CreArt RESIDENCE IN GALERIA LABIRYNT (LUBLIN)
The two artists selected by Galería Labirynt will present this week their final projects:
Gabriela Benedeti:
Opening of the exhibition PROJECHOTOMY by Gabriela Benedeti, resident artist from Aveiro.
Gabriela Benedeti is a careful observer of the environment in which she creates. For her, art is both a passion and a tool for change and dialogue. Benedeti's artistic practice includes documentary photography, self-portraiture, video art and the videojokey technique.
In her current exhibition, the artist presents audio-visual installations using video mapping, where she analyses the impact of the energy industry on our everyday life using coal and wood pellets. Using advanced visual techniques and metaphorical juxtapositions, the artist deconstructs the notion of ‘sustainable energy’, encouraging critical reflection on energy choices. In her installations, Gabriela Benedeti juxtaposes two seemingly distant but related industries: coal production in Poland and wood pellet production in Portugal. Through this comparison, she shows that although the forms of resource exploitation differ, their ecological and social effects are equally destructive.

Daniil Revkovskyi:
Opening of the exhibition "Venom. Hydro Power Plant" by Daniil Revkovskyi
"Venom. Hydro Power Plant" is a new exhibition of one of the most interesting contemporary Ukrainian artists, Daniil Revkovskyi. The main character of the project is the fictional character Leonid Kamensky, with a carefully created biography especially for the exhibition. The exhibition is an announcement of the artist's larger project about music of the 1970s.
Daniil Revkovskyi creates a biography of Leonid Kamensky, who worked at the Dnieper hydroelectric power plant and co-founded a music band in his free time. Since the beginning of 1974, he had visions of the future of his unborn child, from its development in the mother's womb to its death in a trolleybus near a hydroelectric power plant in 2024. These obsessive thoughts led him to commit suicide in December 1974.
