Francesco Buonerba received a Master’s Degree in Art History at Sapienza University of Rome, in
2005. He is currently Assistant Director of CASTRO Studio Program and Atelier in Rome. He has
worked with the Real Academia di España in Rome, the Costantini restoration studio of Bologna
and coordinated complex art projects such as Christo's Floating Pier and Triumphs and Laments of
William Kentridge. Buonerba founded the curatorial/research collective Wonderlust#rome. He has
co-curated the recent Manifesta Collateral exhibition , Martin Kippenberger. The Museum of
Modern Art Syros and the related Anti-Museum Symposium in cooperation with the Swiss Institute
XX.
Buonerba specializes in curatorial and editorial production, and artistic management and
organization. He has extensive experience as assistant to international artists and with the
structuring of artist residency programs. He has participated in projects between Italy and the
United Kingdom, such as the Prime Collective of Belfast, and worked with artists residing at the
British School at Rome, Swiss Institute in Rome, and Real Academia de España
Since 2010, Buonerba has been involved in the Rete dei Caselli Sud-Est project, and is the recipient
of the Principi Attivi award of the Puglia Region, dedicated to the revaluation of disused canton
houses in the province of Lecce. Since 2014, he has managed the artists' residency programs,
Moving Landscape and Industrial Therapy, with the support of the Puglia Region and the
Fondazione per il Sud.
Most recently, buonerba was awarded a residency at NKD in Dale, Norway, beginning a project of
exchange between artists and cultural operators in Norway and Italy.
