Blog Single

The artist residencies held as part of the CreArt 3.0 project are coming to an end in Lublin. Two artists, selected through an open call, have been working in Lublin since early November. The final presentation of their work will take place on Thursday, December 4th at the Workshops of Culture in Lublin (ul. Grodzka 7).

PeReBor: River Base – Border Fragment | Monika Trypuz (Lublin) | curator: Marzena Bielecka

Monika Trypuz brings a fragment of the Bug River borderland to the Workshops of Culture – a place where a distinctive perebor, embedded in the intersection of Polish, Ukrainian, and Belarusian traditions, was born. The installation, composed of nearly one hundred linocut prints, creates an immersive, spatial structure that shifts from vertical order to meandering chaos. The artist references the changing course of the Bug River and the region's complex identity, inviting viewers to physically walk through the installation and experience the layers of this place's history.

The accompanying video presents the Bug River in its natural setting, introducing viewers to the geographical and cultural context of the ornament. The fragility of the handmade paper and the texture of the linocut emphasize the historical value of the river and the subtlety of its discovery. In this way, they create a space for reflection on memory, borders, and the multifaceted identity of the borderland.

Lublin Re-Cut | Kristaps Priede (Liepaja, Latvia) | curator: Magdalena Linkowska

Kristaps Priede invites us to view the city as a constantly edited film — a living jigsaw puzzle composed of architecture, memory, and personal reflections. Continuing his series of works based on the metaphor of montage, the artist focuses on Lublin's cinemas, both past and present. The changing architecture of these places becomes a testament to broader cultural transformations and a resource for creatively "re-editing" the city.

Entering the installation space, viewers also perceive their own reflections, becoming part of a multi-layered montage — a dynamic narrative of the city, in which each element represents a trace of the past and a sign of the present. "Lublin Re-Cut" is an invitation to rediscover Lublin as a palimpsest of memories, emotions, and evolving meanings.
