The Curatots Committee in HDLU (Croatian Association of Visual Artists) and Hafenkombinat selects the following artists for the AiR De/construction of Painting between September - November: 

  1. Shima Salehi, Finland
  2. Kristaps Priede, Latvia

SHIMA SALEHI 

Shima Salehi (b. 1991, Esfahan, Iran) is a multidisciplinary visualartist based in Oulu, Finland. Her work explores themes of genderjustice, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability,blending traditional influences with contemporary techniques. Sheblends different artistic styles, pushing boundaries to createinnovative works that aim to raise awareness and inspire socialchange. Her creative process is driven by a desire to make animpact and spark meaningful conversations through art.

KRISTAPS PRIEDE

Kristaps Priede (1990) was born in Vidzeme highlands, Ērgļi, Latvia. In June 2017, he is going to finish his studies in the Art Academy of Latvia, Master’s program in Painting department. Priede complemented his knowledge by studying in two UK universities – University of Falmouth and Wimbledon College of Arts. In 2015 he graduated Art Academy of Latvia and holds a bachelor’s degree in the Functional design. Previously he studied Environmental Design in Riga Design and Art School (graduated in 2010).

Since 2007, artist organizes and participates in various exhibitions around Europe and Asia. Some of his works are placed in some private collections in UK, USA, China, Thailand and elsewhere.

Priede is a SEB scholarship laureate in 2017, winner of the “Best New Artist 2016” prize of the Artists Society “Sidegunde”, the first prize winner of the Art Academy of Latvia students’ work competition “Anatomy and Artistic Symbiosis” in cooperation with Pauls Stradiņš History and Medical Museum in 2014.
