European Day of Artistic Creativity // Activities 2014

Pupils of art schools are invited to evaluate and discuss a joint exhibition of painter father and photographer son (Jonas and Ignas Maldziunai), that is currently shown at Kaunas art gallery MENO PARKAS.

Art schools usually emphasize the technical training of future artists. This discussion will give an opportunity to take up the outside view of an art critic, to evaluate the work of another (artist), and to earn the first publication in cultural press: as the final result of the discussion the participants will have to provide a critical review of the exhibition; the best articles will be published in Lithuanian cultural weekly "Nemunas". The idea has been initiated by the art gallery MENO PARKAS; the discussion will be curated by famous artist and curator, painter Eglė Velaniškytė.

Young painter Milda Gailiute's introduction to her own exhibition at Kaunas Antanas Zmuidzinavicius Museum will begin the meeting with the artist.

Milda is one of the most active artists of Kaunas, now preparing a new exhibition after an AiR in Vienna, where she spent two months in 2012. She will talk about her experiences, present her work and finally make a workshop for young people who'd be daring enough to express themselves in a play of paints.

Textiles Gallery BALTA invites to experience the joy of creation - painting on silk.

One of the most famous Lithuanian textiles artists Lina Jonike will prepare a special program for this workshop of European Day of Artistic Creativity - an interpretation of the classicial silk-painting technique in contemporary context. The artist promises to share a few professional secrets and technological tricks that should surprise even the most devoted lovers of handicraft.

Glueing little pieces of stained glass on paper may seem a little boring, but in fact, you can get an amazingly beautiful images. Schoolchildren do not do it often during their art classes, so European Day of Creativity will be a good chance to try it out!

Three workshops, presented by Kaunas art gallery RASA and glass artist Rimante Pakalniskyte, will take place in Papartis primary school. Organisers expect beautiful pictures to be created...

Build the house of your dreams - or anything else you dream about - with ecologic plasticine :) First-grade pupils of Rytas primary school are invited to explore their creativity and possibilities of the new locally produced toy

The creative workshop will welcome more than 70 first-grade pupils in their own school, where they will have time to enjoy the creative possibilities that the new ecological toy - so unique that it's difficult to name it - gives.

All schoolchildren who like photography are invited to participate in the competition. This year, pupils from Kelmė and Anykščiai will join the young photographers of Kaunas.

After the first successful competition in 2013, the new topic was announced as early as November 2013. Two more cities - Kelmė and Anykščiai - join the festivities of European Creativity Day in Lithuania. The young people will have their photos shown in one of the best exhibition halls of Kaunas, as well as in exhibition spaces of Kelmė and Anykščiai. Later, the photos will travel to the schools of the participants. Authors of the most interesting shots will receive prizes among which - tickets to the youth photography summer camp in Kaunas.
